چکیده

A low cost Mixed Reality implementation with force feedback as a base for further empirical studies of collaboration in distributed real and virtual environments will be presented. It will be shown, how the system can be used to get more insight in tangible cooperation between humans, avatars or in general real and virtual systems. This application is related to Hyper-Bonds, a unified concept to describe complex effort/flow driven automation systems distributed over real and virtual worlds. It allows selected materialization of parts of the system into reality and their functional connection to a simulation model. Copyright © 2004 IFAC

Perspective Shifts in Mixed Reality: Persuasion through Collaborative Gaming

Mixed reality environments allow collaborative interaction with shared virtual objects to extend beyond participants wearing head mounted displays. Teams of collaborators can now share perspectives within a virtual space, and share their experiences with others through the use of green screens and realtime camera mixing. Our work proposes to explore commodity-based mixed reality as a personaliz...

Modeling of 3-D interactive forces in nanomanipulation

Previous studies on nanomanipulation using Atomic Force Microscope (AFM) go through the scandesign-manipulation-scan cycle, in which an operator does not have any real-time visual feedback during manipulation. In this paper, a simple model of tip-substrate-object interactive forces has been presented for the qualitative and quantitative analysis. Based on this model, the real-time tip-substrate...

Investigation of methods for constructing gloves with tactile and force feedback for virtual reality and telecontrol of anthropomorphic manipulators

Aims. Devices that allow using the functionality of natural hand movements are of the greatest interest. The purpose of this study is to select areas of research at the intersection of several fields of science – biomechanics and cybernetics to develop scientific and technical approaches to track the movements of the operator's fingers and form feedback tactile and force communication received ...

Supporting Collaboration in Distributed Environments by Haptic Force Feedback

The extent that haptic force feedback affects peoples ability to collaborate in a distributed way or how it affects their perception of the collaborative environment has not been investigated much. In this paper an experiment is presented where collaboration in a distributed desktop virtual environment with haptic force feedback was studied. A video analysis of the frequency of failures to lift...
